Need some advice about a skimmer and fuge.

I am looking at the CPR HOB Refugium or the Refugium with Skimmer.

    1. Have any of you run one of these and would you recommend it?
    2. Would I be able to clear out my display and hide some equipment(like my heater)?
    3. Is there a way to run chemical filtration in this refugium so I can eliminate my Fluval?
    4. Can I run the Remora on the back of the Refugium or would the Fuge with the built in skimmer be more efficient? Would the weight of the skimmer be too much on the back of the tank?

    Here are some tank specs:
I have a 34g tall with euro brace. I am currently running an Aqua C Remora Pro for my Skimmer and a Fluval 304 Canister for mechanical and chemical filtration.

I have a stand with a very small footprint (10x26) and my tank is not drilled so I have not been able to find a way to practically and affordably add a sump.

    Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a link to one, so I can take a closer look at it?

I'm having trouble finding it online for some reason.

Yes you could definitely hide your heater in there.

The easiest way to do this would be to put some carbon in a mesh bag and just drop it in there.

It's possible the weight could be a problem. The bigger problem would be the skimmer pump would be sucking macro and sand in. I wouldn't get the built in skimmer one. IMO your Remora is way better than the skimmer that would come built in.

I would get the normal fuge and continue running your Aqua C skimmer. You can, like you said, put some carbon in a bag in the HOB to stop using your canister filter if you would like.

    Thanks for the answers.

I was curious if I could just drop the media in the sump. That is helpful.

I was hoping to avoid having two pumps in the back of my display...I am really trying to get a cleaner look... But I think you may be right about the weight (maybe I can think of a way to brace it???)

Even if the weight is not a problem, the macro in the HOB fuge is going to clog the Remora's pump.

you have a good skimmer already, great for the size of your tank. I would add the refugium though, it works great in addition with your existing equipment.

Couldn't I place the pump inside an overflow box, inside of the sump to protect it from pulling in the sand and the macro?
