IMO you want the macro's in the fuge section to get first crack @ the dirty water. If you're worried about pods being skimmed out split the intakes, put the fuge on one end, the skimmer on the other and the return in the middle.

Also I believe bubble traps are a waste of useful space. There's ways to plumb that eliminates the need for them entirely.

    Here's a good example

What i see here is.. The water that comes from the overflows is directed to the refugium, which then goes into the skimmer who then returns it back to the refugium?

why would you want to do that? arent you just returning the clean water back to where the dirty water is?

    im a little confused there:confused:

the sump design is looking good although anther large baffle would suffice for extra equipment in the future...

Your skimmer isn't pulling 100% of the water that flows through the sump anyway. All you're doing is eliminating the bubbles to avoid the trap.

oh, i see. what if i added reactors down the road? can i put them in the same place where the skimmer will be? ( granted i will have enough space for them)

That would all depend on if you design and plan the room for them now.

i've been looking into those.. However they are a little too complicated for my knowledge on this kind of things.

This is my first DIY.. so im a little nervous on messing up, that's why i'm looking into diagrams that are simple and do the job well.

Well for a simple and effective design this is where I would start.
    Melevsreef.com - DIY Glass Sump & Refugium

You can build any of those sumps however out of glass using an existing tank and modifying the dimensions as needed. It's just a starting place.
