So i have an established refugium in my sump region and had a few questions. this is a 75G tank with about 30g refugium/sump underneath. i also run GFO/Carbon through a reactor to rid of phosphates. I was wondering if there should be maintenance done to the regium matter, ie. take out macro algae periodically and let new grow. It would be my guess that overtime the macro algae will be in a sense a sponge and only hold so much nitrate before leaching it back into the system. Any insight on this matter would be appreciated.
