    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Basically if you put sand back there you will never get it out if you change your mind. The design of the JBJ 28gal sump makes it a trap for detritus. You will notice this 6 months down the line.

    If you use a media basket the chaeto is not going to float away.

    There is more than enough sand and rockwork in the main display portion to provide the filtration without adding rubble and sand to the sump IMO.

    Is the same true for the chamber 2 fuge in the BC29? What actions can be taken to minimize detritus in the fuge? I only have chaeto in there btw.
