Wasn't sure which forum this wood be under, but decided here would be a good spot. I am making a 20gallon Refugium for my 65 tall DT and was wondering what some of the quality/good name or brand pumps(return pump) and about what GPH I would be looking for or needing or how to figure out for ones self. I have no idea how much these pumps cost and can foot $200ish for a pump. Prefer not to spend a fortune but don't want to buy a pump just to need to get another 2months later.

I run a 20 gallon external fuge on my system. I actually just run a Rio 1100 as the main pump for it. Its not the most expensive pump but its worked for over 2 years now. I do have a check valve on it and its probably only running 80 to 100 gph. If your looking for a quality pump I'd go with a mag drive or Eheim.

ok thanks, I was under the impression I would want 10x the refugium size for flow. AKA 200 gph, and are the rio's pretty quiet as my DT is in my living room?

For a fuge low turnover is fine. 10x may be faster than needed.

Eheim all the way. You will never be disappointing with an Eheim.
