Refugium question? Wich one?

    okk i was thinking of getting a refuge due to algae. ok so im looking on what i would need and recommenden stuff to put in there. i was thinking maybe in tank trying to avoid outside tank refuge unless i could make in my marineland model 2 sump. heres one that i found and just post so other ones THNXS;D

    I used one of those for awhile and didn't have any complaints.

    Why don't you want a outside refuge? I would say that they are better than an inside one. just my 2cent

    Yeah, I would definitely go with an outside one if you can. They have hob fuges, have you looked at those?

    I just added a hod to mu sump just because I wanted more macro algae to grow. I have a refugium in the model 4 marineland sump but dident think it was big enough so I added a hob with light on there.

    IME the fuge needs to be big enough to have plenty of room for macroalgae...

    especially if you use chaeto, the stuff gets big really fast... and the more you have the more effective it is at nitrate removal...

    i have a 10g fuge on my 20g and it's almost full of chaeto... i have to take 1/2 of it i out every two weeks... the stuff grows fast.

    if you're going to do it in your display tank why not just get some somewhat attractive looking macro and leave it in the display? a better solution i think.
