I am going to have a remote refugium. I have a DSB in my sump. I am going to use cheato as my main nitrate and phosphate remover. Given these parameters what else would you put in the refugium?

I have been considering the ulva and CUC, I am concerned about the mangroves because of the flow rate required to keep the cheato tumbling. Live rock I had not considered.

They say that cheato should tumble so all of it gets light. Ulva is a macro that is called sea lettuce.

my chateo doesnt tumble, I have a piece of egg crate about 4" below the water level next to where the fuge drains to the return, this pulls the water thru the chateo and it has done very well set up this way. The flow I guess is about 40 to 50 gallons per hour which is about half my total volume. Only other thing in it is 5 mangroves and a small pile of rubble for some pods.

True it grows faster and demands more nutrient when it tumbles but I've been able to make it grow just as fast in slow flow by manually flipping once per week and cutting the ball into 1/4ths with a pair of shears once a month.

200's to much imo. You want it closer to 75.
