Has anyone done a refugium beside the display tank? If so; any references or sticky on how to set it up. E.g.

should refugium place higher than display tank?
Overflow setup and return pump ?

    Thanks

Not saying this is the best way to set up a refugium just the way I have mine. My refuguim sits next to my DT, it's lower than my DT, but higher than my sump. Water is feed to it via a maxi jet pump and returned to the sump by way of gravity. I got a 10 gallon drilled tank from my LFS for three bucks and set it up this way.

I see but i want to essentially do is to combine sump/refugium in one tank and put it next to display tank.

the sump/refugium will be somewhat (little bit lower) that the display tank. I am thinking of using PVC overflow to drive water to sump and have a MJ 600 pump back water to tank. Is this possible?

It would look like this - see attachment. Of course - the overflow part was simplified - but it would look like the U type DIY overflow.

if you can put it higher it is better for pod population as they dont go through a pump
