So i have been using these lights to light my refugium for about two months now.[IMG]
I have just been trying to grow cheato. I was doing some maintenance today and discovered that the light was corroding.

This obviously cant be good in the system. Anyone have any pointers on what i should do? I have removed the light from my system.
Would this have an affect on corals, cuz my montipora digitata has completely turned white now? Do i need to do anything to my tank because of this?
    Help:cry:

    the light doesn't look good.
Is that condensation on the inside of the light or just water still on it? Is it rated for salt water?

That is the corrosion. Green is normally the color corroded copper turns. Do you have a reef tank?

Rust is not the problem, what do you think GFO is that we put in our reactors... basically Granulated ferrous Oxide (rust)
The green stuff on the other hand appears to be Copper, not good for your reef at all!

Why use an underwater light at all? It's just one more potential point of failure that totally unnecessary.

What company would manufacture an underwater light constructed out of Copper? Terrible.

Ummm...it is not an aquarium light. It can easily be a Cu coating, or the coating on the Cu came off.

Dump that light. Simply go to Home Depot and for less than $20 you can get a clip on light and a plant flood bulb.;)
