many submersible things won't be good for saltwater, since the salt is very damaging.

NASAGeek definitely thinks that is copper.... bad news.

I would definitely not use that light anymore. The question now is how much copper is in your water and tank....

I would consider getting a Copper Test Kit such as this one to be certain if you have a problem or not. For a few bucks, find out for sure.

What I would do is save a sample of your water today to test. Then I'd do a large water change just in case. Then I'd test your original water sample that you saved and retest your water after the water change.

If you see copper in the water column, I'd repeat water changes to try and dillute it out of your system.

If you don't see copper in the system, then count your blessings.

    Just my thoughts.

yeah im a little upset that someone would distribute a light that they claim is great to grow cheato and macro in a SaltWater Refugium, that would corrode and possibly leach copper into ones system. Wow! So not only did i pay for crappy lights, they could potentially destroy my reef tank!

i would def take it out, cuz it will corrode and mess stuff up! I called the distributor and they were very accommodating to my needs. i told them that the lights were corroding and sent them a picture of them. He said that he would send another one out right away. lol But i quickly responded back saying i didnt want another light cuz it would just do the same thing. I am going to send the damaged lights back and was promised a refund.
So not a terrible turn out but i am waiting on a copper test kit so i can find out if my reef is going to suffer because a reputable distributor of nano tank reef equipment didnt take the time to use the lights in their own systems before distributing them.
Not that happy about this. :)
