Ya, but it would be the DT backing up, not the refugium.

True, and perhaps there was but and the overflow's filled more than usual -- but it would also limit the level in the refugium and permit the pump to suck air. I think this is a 100+ gallon tank if memory serves, and I am assuming a 2 overflow setup. If the one backed up (perhaps not 100%) the other may also then be taking more flow....just a thought.

Im trying to compile the questions so i can get them answered, so ill try. Im also gonna go make a sketchup after i make this post.

The Tank has 2 overflows. 1 goes to the Wet/DRy(no more bioballs). The second goes to the refugium. The capacity of the overflow is much greater than the return pump. There is nothing between the baffles and they're a good inch and a half apart. Theres nothing wrong with the ball valve, I can make it completely stop the pump if i want to. Evaporation is probably a factor since I have MH's.

Hopefully that answered some Q's. Im of to draw a sketch.

Any way to post a pic of your overflow and the sump instead of a sketch?

Does your W/D and 'fuge each have their own return pump?
