I have a wetr/dry system but want to add the best of both worlds. I'm about to start my project but want to do everything perfect from the beginning. I just wanted to get everyones opinion on my plan for the setup. The refugium will be in a 10gl tank. All comments and suggestions welcome.

BTW....instead of the 1.25" U-tube.....I will be drilling into the tank and installing a bulkhead.

looks like close to what I'm doing with my 75g setup except I'm elevating the refugium and allowing gravity to do the return work from fuge > sump for me

I'm also not doing a wet/dry just because I've never had one and always done fine without it. Also I'd probably move the skimmer to the wet/dry you don't want to skim the water coming back out from the fuge, mainly so pods can be carried up via the return pump the skimmer would cut down on their chances of making it up top alive

The sump is for a 75 gallon which is the size of my display tank and the ref. tank will be 10 gallons.

So your overflow is going to be gravity fed down and split off with most of the water going to the sump and the rest (regulated by a ball valve) going to the fuge? Then the run off from the fuge will be gravity fed to the sump and pumped up to the DT? Sounds like a plan.

Remember that the flow across the fuge is only going to be around 8 gallons per hour give or take. You don't want all of the overflow water going to the fuge......flow would be too fast. So it's gonna have to be split off.
