Ok boys and girls the time has come for me to start planning my build for my 200 gallon deep dimension 200 gallon marine land tank. The tank measures 48L x 36W x 27H. The tank will replace my current 120 gallon in wall set up.

Here is what the set up will contain.
    - 200 gallon marineland deep dimension tank (w/ Starphire Glass)
    - 60 gallon sump with refuge.
    - Blue Line 70 external water pump
    - Aqua Controller III
    - 2 MP40 EcoTech Power heads
    - Bermuda BPS-3C skimmer

I plan to use my current light set up until I can get an LED set up. So for right now I will have two 150 watt MHL with 200 watts of actinics. I mainly have soft corals with some LPS and SPS so I am thinking this should be enough for a few months.

So how is all of this happening? I am still working on a plan. But I plan to tear down the 120 placing all corals rock and fish in to separate bins saving as much of the current water as I can. From there a new stand will be built and I plan to tile the floor of my fish room behind the tank. (Currently there is a continuation of the hardwood floor from the living room)

Once the floor is tiled And the stand built the wall will be opened up to accommodate the taller tank. From there the new tank will go in to place with the new sump and will be filled with water from the 120 and new RO/DI water that I will have premixed and ready to go. from there the Aqua scaping will begin and new sand will be installed. (I know some may think should use the old sand so let me know if you all think I am nuts for getting new.)

My hope is to get all of this completed within 48 hours. I plan to put the fish in my 34 gallon RedSea make with water from the 120 so my hope is that will minimize stress. does anyone feel 48 hours is too long?

I am including my first tank picture here and will take lots of pics along the way!!! Any pointers or recommendations from those that have done this before, please let me know.

    Wish Me Luck!!

That sounds like a lot of work for only 48 hours. Should be interesting to watch.

I hear ya. My hope is tear down, and tiling and stand building in one day and the next grouting stand and tank placement and fill up. Going to be a couple 12-14 hour days that's for sure.

Me too. My LFS has a deep dimension tank like this and they look great because of the depth they provide front to back. I want to make sure I do everything right so I want to take my time, but I can not wait to get started!

i think rushing is going to mess you up. can you get a 120 cheep or something and keep all the fish in that with filtration. or move the 180 to a different room i would hate to see you rush and make a mistake!!

I would prefer to have more time was just worried about the tank inhibitants. I do have that 34 gallon red sea max do you think a 5 inch hippo tang, 5 inch Sailfin tang and two ocellaris (sp) clowns will be ok in there for longer then a couple days? I am all about taking my time, it just that with a tank swap I have the health of the animals to consider. Let me know what you all think.
