    I just set up my Remora Pro Skimmer today and I was wondering if I should put the foam on the prefilter foam on the pump intake. For now I just put the plastic guard on the intake without the foam. I just hate the idea of risking the contamination of the water with the foam. My fear is without the foam the spray injector will plug. Anyone have a suggestion?

    The prefilter on the Mag pumps are completely inert and will not contaminate the water. What you buy for aquarium use is generally aquarium safe. But you will want to wash off that foam every week to remove waste and detritus buildup. The last thing you want it for a small hermit (or whatever) to get sucked into that impeller.
