I have just recently built a tank and have been looking for the right protein skimmer for my needs. From all of the reviews I have read here and on other sites it seems that the the Remora Pro has a very loyal following. My questions is if this is such a goo skimmer why do none of the stores carry it. I have called all the big stores in my area and they all seem to carry SeaClone, Coralife, Prizm, and Berlin but not Remora Pro. I know I can get it online but sometimes I prefer to buy things local even if it costs a little more to get support if needed.

I have a Berlin Turboi that works great for me. The only thing that could break is the impeller. I had it for four years and replaced it once for 14 bucks. and bought another impeller to have in stock just in case.

I couldn't find the regular Remore at my LFS either...same problem...

I ordered from captivereefs.com (a 3reef sponsor). They have yet to deliver, since I only ordered late last week, but Darin is very helpful and friendly to do business with!

Using coupon code 3reef will get you 6% off your order, which pretty much takes care of the shipping cost!

You will find honestly that alot of regular LFS's and chain pet stores do not carry alot good high end equipment for a variety of reasons from cost, local demand etc.... If you want to buy local your best bet would be to hit up a good (non petco, petland etc...) store in your area and see if they can order one in for you. Often stores will do this if you ask.

Most of the better skimmers come from smaller companies that can't afford to do business with the big chains like petsmart and the small LFS can't really afford to tie up a few grand in skimmers that it might take them 6 months or a year to sell. Depending on where you are located you might find an online vendor who is actually located in your area.
