    Hi All,
I've had a Remora skimmer now for 2 weeks, 2 days and had a question about the skimmate I'm getting. For the record, I only use RO/DI water and do not add any chemicals to my tank as I know these things can affect my skimmer.

I've had my collection cup as high as the rubber band will allow without slipping off since day one, yet what I'm collecting is very wet. I'm emptying the collection cup daily as it fills to almost half full in that time frame. It has been getting darker and more foul smelling every day, however I thought that at some point I would get a dryer skimmate and would have to start moving the collection cup "down".

Does this seem normal, or might there be a problem? I wasn't sure if maybe this meant I don't have enough of a bio-load yet, or if maybe my skimmer isn't producing enough "foam" because of a hardware problem.

I'm sorry for the lengthy post, I just wanted to cover everything. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That is normal from what I have read. It make take a few more weeks before you get dry skimmate.

That sounds pretty normal to me
I have not had a remora skimmer but have had HOB Deltec and Reef octopus
and I would say that all the units I have had, started with light green to clear liquid
and recently my Reef octopus was on for over 1 month, before I started getting dark green to brown, smelly skimmate

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it. Hopefully as time goes on it will produce a dryer skimmate. I have read that wet doesn't necessarily mean bad, so as long as I'm removing waste I'm happy.

Wet generally will remove more waste than dry since more is being exported to the cup with more water and bubbles.
