I got my Remora hang on today. I've never had a skimmer so I'm sort of skimmer stupid. The instructions talk about adjusting the height on the collection cup with the black ring. Can someone explain the differences in how it skims at different heights?

If the foam is dry you will remove less water. If the foam is wet you may remove a little tank water but the skimmate has more gunk in it. It will take the Remora about 2 weeks to break in a nd really start to skim. When it does shine a light down the collection cup tube with the cup cover off and set the foam so when it rises up the tube the foam does not stick to the collection cup tube (dry) or does not slide down it (to wet). You want it to kind of hang on the tube than blow up and over int the cup. It is kind of hard to explain what i mean in words but when you see it working you will know what i mean.

I got it Darin! Good description!

You will need to move the cup up or down or not to get the brownish green smelly stuff out of your tank and in to the cup.
