Removal of a dead fish

Unfortunately my sail fin tang died this am. Only problem is, I would literally have to remove most of my rock to remove her. My hermits are chomping away. Is it necessary for me to remove it totally?

 

Not necessary.

Keep eye on water params testing often. Couple times a day for a while.

Have mixed salt water standing by when tests show water change is indicated, which they probably will.

Do for good week or so.

Hermits will clean up deceased fish pretty quick...but lots of gunk going into water column as fish decomposes...

They are not called Clean up crews for nothing! You will be suprised at how effecient those little things are. Just watch for anything that happens to float up to the top in a few days and remove it, and at that it might not ever happen either.

 

i would say if the tank is matured for a while, then the hermits should clean it up pretty fast and you should have enough bacteria to fight off any spikes in parims,

but it is a pretty big fish so i dont know, i had a firefish get killed in my tank and the hermits had it completly gone except its head, in a matter of hours.
but thats a big size difference.

try getting a syphon going on some small tubing and suck it to the dead fish , its flexable so you might beable to get it out.

but if you cant get it out,then you cant. just have water ready like omard said.
