Removing a Filter?

hello all, in my 55gal tan i have a pak-pak2 protien skimmer/ filter, i also have an emperor filter...the filter is really just taking up space and i wanted to know if it would make much a difference if i took it out? i have plenty of rock and the skimmer/filter is working good...would my system crash if i took this filter out?

 

If your skimmer is working well, the tank should do fine without additional filtration.

 

I agree, but I might do a transitional thing with some of the filter media (keep some for a while) to reduce shock. I'd also think about loss of circulation and think about adding a powerhead or something.

 

well i have really let the filter go lol, it gets cloged in places i have no idea how to fix, it still is working but really it is just taking up space, plus the skimmer also has a filter compartment and for circulation i just upgraded my power head to the rip hyperflows so its good circulation


on another note, my colt coral has grown very big and parts of it r not doing so good because other parts r blocking light, should i frag it...i guess i should lol...

lol yup, the baby is getting big...i think im gona have 2 frag it cuz the bottom part is not getting light ...
