Ok, bought a used tank and it was pretty dirty. I cleaned it well and it’s been up a running for 5 months now, no problems.

My question: I want to clean the salt deposits on my 55 gallon tank hood. It is the older style one plastic piece and the clear plastic pieces are so caked in salt/mineral deposits that it may be reducing the effectiveness of my lighting? Is it even possible that it could be reducing the effectiveness?

I tried vinegar and scrubbing, but it didn't work. Is there anything else I can use? I've heard CLR, but is this safe?

I've used salt creep eliminator by coralife to help protect my equipment from salt damage.
