    So I was a dumb*** and used sugar sand for part of my sand bed in my biocube 29. I'm sick of it because the PH move it around like no other. What would be the easiest way to remove it without removing 1" bottom layer of 1-2mm sand below it? I'm so mad.

    Red Solo cup.
    Or a 1/2" tube siphoning to a bucket. You will get some water with that though.

    Thanks! I agitated the sand bed and removed a bunch. My water is milk so hopefully my filter catches most of it.

    You do realize if you didn't remove ALL of the sugar sand it will end up on top of your coarser sand.

    Yep. And I know I can't get rid of all of it, that's ok. I just want the small particles gone. Once the water clear I'll be adding live sand. Coarse.

    Don't add crushed coral. Or live sand, its a waste of money IMO.
    Just get some CaribSea Aragonite Seaflor Special or their reef sand, its a bit coarser than the sugar fine.

    Thank you. I hate the look of CC. Why no live sand? I heard it wasnt really live.... I'll look into the seafloor and reef grade.

    Oh and I heard when you add new sand to a tank you can cut a hole in the corner of the sand bag and just let the sand fall out and it won't cloud the tank because the debris stays in the bag.

    Run on sentence^

    Yes but first you must wash it, by poking 1/4" holes in the side and running tap water through the bag until it runs clear, then do that.

    2 ninth graders using run-on sententences ::)
