I got a couple areas in the tank where theres a little bit of turf algae. Any ideas on a good removal for this stuff? It seems like my params can be really good but this stuff just doesnt go away. I did get a nice hunk to pull off a rock, but it literally took a piece of the rock with it!

Well I have a little bit on my live rock.

I can't remove the rock its on, some of its base and a couple other smaller areas its on are rocks with about 4 to 5 corals attached to them.

I have cut back on feeding and cleaned all my equipment but it just seems like this algae just will stop growing when nutrients are minimal and when a tad bit of nutrients gets raised a bit it takes off.

Is it becoming a nuisance? Do you have a pic by chance?

Bummer, yeah nothing eats it and it will grow and make nice green hills.

Taking the rock out and scraping and scrubbing is really the only way to put a dent in it and it usually comes back to some extent.

Most corals can usually stand a couple of minutes of air time, besides that I have no idea. Or you can do it in a container with some tank water as well. It is just tough stuff.

So I have come up with an idea to remove the 3 or 4 spots of this algae from my tank. I'm going to buy a few small pieces of rubble rock and a purple stick of the marine putty. Then going to putty over the turf algae completely and stick a nice little piece of rubble rock right on it. In hopes since covering the algae completely it dies and also maybe feels a little pain from the putty burning it as well :)
