I'm going to be moving at the beginning of next month. Unfortunately, this means I'm going to have to downsize. I've already got my 5g pico up and running and plan to build another ~8g pico out of some no-name AIO I found at a garage sale. For this build, I plan to use nothing but dry base rock, transferring none of the existing live rock from my 29 (slight aptaisia problem, along with a very very tiny patch of Bryopsis that I just don't want to chance). Unfortunately, I've got two GBTAs and about a thousand Stomatellas, Micro Brittle Stars and Dwarf Ceriths inhabiting the stuff. I'd like to relocate as many of these as possible to the two pico's without...ya know...killing them.

My intention is to sell the BTAs. Considering the fact that no one (that I know of) actually wants aptaisa in their tank, I'd like to remove them from the rock prior to sale. I have no idea how to go about this without damage to the animal, since the foot is buried pretty deep within a crevice.

Once the BTAs are gone, I've still got the snails and Micro Brittles to contend with. The Dwarf Ceriths should be easily picked off, but the Stomatellas and Micro Brittles impose a slightly higher degree of difficulty. The only idea that's crossed my mind so far is a dip of some sort, though I don't know how they would fare in freshwater for a few minutes.

    Suggestions?

Pick them off one by one at night? I doubt that anything that might be threatening will make them budge out of their cozy safe holes without killing them (ie freshwater).

On the bright side, while most of them may be doomed, the ones you pick off will go on to reproduce just fine.

I'd bury the aptasia and bryopsis in kalk paste if possible.

Try aiming a powerhead at the BTA's, should make them mad enough to relocate and then grab them when they move, the snails and such, I'm thinking jsut tedious picking
