    Hello All,

I just picked up a 125 gal Oceanic tank, stand, lighting, wet/dry filter and 2 huge pumps for CHEAP! but of course as with anything that is cheap..... the front panel looks like someone cleaned it with a scuff pad. I guess its not too bad, but i dont think i wanna settle for it. Anyone here ever replace aquarium glass? or have it done professionally? I got such a good deal that i could probly have it done and still have paid under half of what all this stuff is worth. SOmebody help!!

    Thanks,

    Mike

If you are even slightly handy its not a hard job, just time consuming. you need to disassemble all the panes and clean them thoroughly with mineral spirits and a razor. then reassemble with a high quality silicone like dow 795 or 999a. the panes need to be 1000% silicone free for the proper bond. silicone doesnt stick to itself well.
it helps to have a helper and beer. Theres a thread in the large tank forum of another site, from a gentleman from brazil, that built his mega tank from scratch if you need pics of what it looks like to do.

    Thanks!

I think I've read enough to do it myself, only problem is...I live in an apartment. I dont see this happening in my living room. Time to pay someone. I just hope it isnt too much. I think I'll even upgrade to the Starphire(low iron) glass. Its a shame someone did this to this beautiful tank. But hey, I wouldnt have picked it up for such a good deal...lol...thanks man!
