I am looking to replace the power cord on my mag drives. They were damaged in a fire and I don't want to risk using bad equipment.

My question... How do you open the sucker up?

Do I need a special tool or is there a hidden screw I am not seeing?

    Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't think they are replaceable.the mag drives are potted (filled with epoxy)

How much usable cord is left after it comes out of the motor casing?

Assuming you have enough cord left to splice, here is a Splice Kit for Submersible Solar Water Pump Wire (Used for making waterproof splices in pump cable) which would probably fit the bill. I would probably do each wire individually and then run heat shrink tubing over the entire spliced area.

Plenty. About three or four feet of good wire.

You should be fine doing a splice then. Personally I would include a drip loop after the splice and would position it in a place away from moisture. If you have never done any sort of electrical work before, I would also recommend finding a friend who knows what they're doing to give you a hand, although a cable splice is fairly straightforward.
