Replacement bulbs for Odyssea 36"

Ok, I think im going to bite the bullet and get Coralife replacements for the captioned fixture. Only problem is I need 96w, 36", straight pin, 12k and actinic. Only problem is, I don't think Coralife makes this size. Are there anymore brands with the same quality as Coralife? Also, the reason im not getting Odyssea bulbs is because alot of people bash them based on their price. Can anyone bunk the theory that they are of the same quality as Coralife? If so, that would make my life a whole lot easier.

 

FWIW Coralife is not known for quality.
I take it this is a PC fixture? I would go with UVL bulbs. They make a 96W straight pin.

 

I just bought that size bulb on ebay for my 30 gal. and am very pleased with the color of them.

 

What brand?

 

UVL PC bulbs with internal reflectors. I got mine from reefgeek.com

UVL w/ internal reflectors bulb put 50% more light into the tank..

best pc bulb out there that I know of.

NO NO NO NO if its for a Oddysea you can only buy there lights or coralife. all others will blow the ballast...been there done that....be careful....Do not get reefgeeks lights for oddysea.....they know they will blow. I have dealt with them on that.

 

How old was your oddysea unit when you put in the new bulbs that caused the ballasts to fail?

I find it hard to see a same wattage bulb would cause a ballast to fail, unless the ballast was going any ways.. how long until your blew after putting the bulbs in? few hours? few days?

I do have a new/backup ballast for my PC unit just in case. FYI:my oddysea T5 unit works good with uvl bulbs so far.
