the fan crapped out on my Current HQi pendant. i can order a replacement from Current but they're pretty loud so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a quieter option.

See if you can find a computer fan that has the same diameter.

PC fans will NOT work on a 120v supply. If you want to use a pc fan, splice in this here. If you don't want to do that you can use either a 240v fan undervolted or a standard 120v fan. I haven't been able to find a quiet 120v fan, but the 240v fan i used previously was silent but did not push enough air.

I just finished splicing the molex connector this AM, been running about 2hrs now, everything is cool and quiet. :)

Let me know if you want to go with a 240v/120v fan i have a few lying around.

OH! I also have a pc fan spliced into a 9w wall wart if you want to give that a go too. Doesn't push enough air for my MHs.

That looks OK, if you are just looking for a replacement fan. No specs on the the CFM or noise levels though. Worst case scenario you could end up with a louder fan with less circulation.

Try to find some specs if you can. The PC fan I just used was rated at 39dB/110CFM. It is far from silent but it is a definite upgrade from a 50+dB/100CFM fan.

I'd offer to send you my old ones for shipping but they are all 120mm fans.
