I bought a sump system from the LFS some 9 or 10 years ago...its been ok, but past its prime. Its a marieland with 4 trays, biowheel and basic overflow for a 55g.

I'm planning to move to a 90 gal later this year, but the the sump has been acting up..looses suction, pads are harder and harder to find, not to mention the cost...used to be like 7 or 8 bucks but now are like 15-20 at the lfs and online with shipping they are close to the same.

I added a skimmer, but a new one wouldn't bother me. Suggestions would be great, I don't want to spend tons of cash, but willing to buy something that's worth the money.

Aquarium is not heavily loaded, but has nice corals etc.

Most reefers buy a 30 gallon aquarium for a 90 gallon tank and add acrylic baffles to create their sump. A lot cheaper than buying the pre-made sumps and more utilitarian.

Any favorite pics of a converted 30? I think it will work better than the 2-20s, due to existing space contraints under the 55
