    Hey everyone.

Ok well...my 4 year old bak-pak 2 skimmer is...well...getting very loud and annoying. I would simply go and get a new one, but there is a catch. The skimmer has this filter area with loads of bio bail. I am wondering if taking out the filtering bail will end up badly. I do have a lot of rock. Eh...and without a sump I need a hang on, anyone know of a good one that is not so loud?

    Coralife aint bad

    HI,
I bought the biggest corallife they had and it really polishes the water and seems pretty durable, best in a sump though. I found that in this situation bigger is way better. :)-[ whoops can I say that)
Most really big skimmer are for sumps.

Thats so true...hah. But I was wondering if I should be wary of the loss in biological filtration due to the new lack of bio bail that I will soon have.

Best HOB I ever ran was a Red sea classic never used but the one as a trial but people I know who have ran them liked them, As for a coralife unit ? I only ran one in a sump a couple of yrs ago that one ran well though.

Get the Remora Pro or Remora. Both would be fine with the Remora being the quieter of the 2. I use a Remora with an upgraded pump on my 75g and it pulls out 1/4-1/2 a collection cup of thick dark skimmate daily. The Remora Pro would allow you to bet a bigger tank in the future and both can be modded for sump use. You should be fine with removing the biobale with all that live rock and sand. You may want to feed sparingly for a few days other than that you'll be fine.
