I have a Current 80 watt PC Fixture. Currently I'm running 1 - 6700k/10000k bulb, and 1 420/460 bulb. I have read actinics are more for show. When I replace my bulbs, would it be more benefical to run 2 6700k/10000K bulbs, and add a Current LED light strip with 4 blue LEDs. I'm trying to get more usable light for my corals, with my existing setup.

    hmm

Okay I read you article, and it was easy to follow. Is states 10k is preferable over 6700k, but actinic combination is needed. So here's my question. Should I go with the combination I have now, 2 bulbs that rate 6700k/10k with a Current Actinic 4 LED, or 2 bulbs rating at 10k/460

actinics really help corals grow. They produce the wavelength that corals need to grow and prosper. They also had to the visual appeal of the tank. I would not replace your two bulb set up with just two daylight bulbs. In saltwater, actinics are just as important as daylight bulbs.

Yeah My PC fixture takes sunpak bulbs. 2 Bulbs in one. The available choices are 6700/10000k, 460/420, 10000k/460. I can use 2 of these in my fixture.

That's what I was thinking.. I heard 6700k promotes algae growth.. why people use them in their fuge. Thanks for your suggestion! Is 420 spectrum useful at ALL?

I prefer the 10,000k/460 and I have added the Power brights also to get the shimmer and deeper penetration.
