It will be re-drilled on the back pane dead center towards the top for a glass holes overflow.

the silicone was ordered from Glass Cages. that is the same silicone they use on their tanks. very very sticky stuff and it starts to cure very quickly.

That sounds like a fine place for an overflow hole. If you are doing only 1, I would go with a 1.5" bulkhead and PVC. 1" can do like 980 gph, and 1.5" can do 2000 gph.

I used 2 one inch bulkheads on my 200g. The second is a tad higher than the primary. The primary handles all the flow, and only a trickle goes through the secondary.

That silicone can be purchased at Grainger and other outlets as well for anyone interested.

I purchased the glass cages dart overflow kit with dual 2" bulkheads. should have plenty of flow out of this thing. have a hammerhead on the way to run the water thru the system (will have over 10 ft of vertical rise) I should get around 10x turnover thru a 150 gal sump and then will do either a closed loop or some Koralis for the rest. i also have 2x 1" sea-Swirls coming for the return pump.

Dual 2" overflows? Yeah, you won't have any issues. Heck, you could run a couple big old surge devices with no issues. Off the top of my head i don't know what 2" pvc can flow, but if it follows the formula of double the flow for each half inch of size you should be able to flow like 4000gph per each bulkhead.

yea, they have a video of that overflow on their site installed in a 29 gallon tank with a dart hooked to it. flowed pretty darn good. IT was the best solution. I want a minimally obtrusive overflow so this was the best solution, and puts it all in one box.

This has been a very fun project so far. Cannot wait to get it all in and full of saltwater.

Nope. Never even attempted to do this. just watched some videos online, read alot and then I slept at a holiday inn express, so I knew I could do it!

in all seriousness though, I have never done this before. I am a pretty handy guy as I can do all my vehicle, boat and house maintenance. my thoughts were "How Hard Can it be?" im not 100% done yet. have to get the rim fitted and then have it completely full of water. then it will be successful and can be moved into the house.

LOL. Got my Glass Holes overflow today. talk about a SWEEET setup. Dual 2" drains are some MASSIVE elbows. cannot wait to get the drill out and install this baby. will have to wait till next week as I dont have antifreeze (glass guy recommended using 50/50 antifreeze and water mixture to keep it cool and lubricated) or the plumbers putty.
