I did that same thing a few months back; I used 6 Power Bright LED modules and absoutly love them... It was a farily expensive option ~$300 for the 6 modules... There may be even better avaialble now, as LED technology seems to be improving on a daily basis. I would look into LED!

Not trying to hijack but I am also replacing my 2 x 96 watt actinic bulbs. @PDDCO Did you just rewire the LEDS into the existing fixture? I looked at your show off your tank link and couldn't tell. I noticed you are from Hailey, I live in Idaho Falls.

@ ladwpwrkr Are there other bulbs in your fixture or is it just the 2- 96 watt power compacts? Mine is 2 x 250 metal halides with the supplemental lights and I have just been using Aquatraders actinic bulbs. They are real cheap but seem to lose their blue real fast.

I replaced my halides with some 14k but my 96 watters aren't as blue as I would like. I am leaning towards a blue actinic from Reefgeek.com check out their site they have some good bulbs.

    Greetings from Hailey, ID ;D

The short answer is yes, I ripped out the connections for the PC's and did a custom retrofit to the fixture... pics below:

The end result works exceeding well :)

Sorry for the glare; took these at a bad time of day -- but you get the idea...
