fish tanks cost so much more than a reptile tank.... when i started my very first fish tank i bought a 10gallon reptile tank and its been working fine....
    is there really a difference?
is the silicone on the sides different?
    glass different?
    THANKS FOR UR HELP!

From what I know about reptile tanks etc, the thickness of the glass is the main big issues in converting it to a fish tank. The fish tanks are much thicker as they are designed to hold water volume. If you buy a reptile tank that would be on the big scale and use it as a fish tank, it can crack easily and depending on size, it may on its own

Yeah, reptile tanks have thinner glass that is very easy to crack when filled with water. Especially be careful if you're buying one from some place like craig's list as people will advertise a tank as reptile because it has a small leak or crack in it. Better off just buying an actual fish tank than to take any chances. Just my opinion.
