HI new to this forum. I am about to restart my 90gal reef. Open to new thoughts.I see some tanks no sand, sand, coral shell gravel, and just plain gravel. Which would be best for my reef tank(light fish load, some soft coral, and maybe anemone)? Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome. Thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you are going to use a substrate my suggestion is Argaonite.

People that use or have used crushed coral often complain that it accumulates too much detritus and looks dirty.

Personally I do like the look of the black sand substrate, but again hobbyist complain that it begins to look dirty after a few months.

I prefer the bare bottom, it easy to clean and the corals and coralline grow over the bottom. If you are going to have fish such as Gobies though it's probably a good idea go with some type of substrate.

    Welcome to 3reef. :)

    Welcome to 3reef.

I agree with corrailline, black sand is awesome, but a PITA according to most, plus some of it is magnetic.

I'd get a stocking wish list ready for the tank, what all you plan on housing, and then the rest will be easier to help you with.
