I have hydroids in my tank and they never seem to die out. So i decided to take out all my lr and kill everything on it (soaking it in bleach). Well.. not all the rock but most of it, i left a base rock and few rubbles that doesnt seem have hydroids in them. Now.. my question is do hydroids colonize in/on the sand? should i take out the sand? (hopefully not cause i dont want too lose all the bacteria and stuff in there..) I have those tiny hydroids.

Dang! that sucks.. I wish had flatworms or apstasias instead of hydroids:angry: Atleast theyre easier to kill.

Hydroids aren't that bad unless you have a full-on infestation or susceptible corals. Pictures would have helped. Dunno that we could have saved you but an "I have hydroids" thread here in ASAP might have been a better place to start before using the "nuclear option". There are several such threads already.

    is just one of them.

If you have already done most of the rock, you will have a cycle anyways, which is way I suggested to go ahead and nuke everything. IMO your already at the point of no return, so might as well do what is left, that way you know the hydroids wont come back.
