Not bad for $2.75 per lb. As you are probably aware, put the LR in last, eh?

You may want to get some base rock or holy rock for the bottom and put the LR on top of it. If this is a 55 gallon then you will need 1 to 1.5 pounds of LR.

I was planning on make the main structure with the base rock, and then spread the LR around in different places to help seed it all.

I would focus on what kind of aqua scaping you want. The tank will readily seed itself including the sand, mine did, as your tank cycles. I've used lots aof base rock for purposes of propogating mushrooms, xenia, and ployps and within no time the coraline algae colonizes and it becomes "live".

    Scuba,
Since you are driving so far to get your LR, make sure that you bring along some old newspapers that you can wet down and ask them to put some water in the stryofoam shipping containers. You don't want it to dry out too bad while driving home. Look for dying sponges (if any) and scrub them off.

I just got back from my LFS in Quincy, IL. They just had a manager change this week and the last manager canceled all the orders. So I get there and no rock as promised. So now I am looking for a new supplier of base rock (will be hard to find some a $1 a pound).
