There are two types of hermits in my tank, Dwarf Red Leg (Clibanarius digueti) and Scarlet hermits (Paguristes cadenati). The Scarlet are behaving normally. They stay hid during the day and come out at dusk to forage. The C. digueti on the other hand are doing laps around the tank.
The tank has been running for about six weeks. The amount of micro algae has receded. There aren't any fish in the tank so I haven't been feeding anything. Could they just be hungry?

Yeah, they are just hungery, hermits feed off poop and leftover food from fish..I would throw a few flakes in there every other day.

I put a tiny piece of frozen krill in a shell. Thawed and rinsed of course ;). They seem to be liking that. When I go to the LFS I'll grab some algae wafers.

I have found breaking them into smaller pieces and scattering them helps keep down the fighting for food.;D Good luck.

I got some algae wafers for these guys. I couldn't find Hikari so I got spectrum wafers. Odd for an algae wafer to have the first four ingredients be fish, shrimp and wheat, but the whole CUC seems to like them. Amphipods and worms were coming out of nowhere. The hermits are no longer doing laps :).
