I have reduced the fish load on my 90 considerably. All I have left is 2 percs (black & orange) and a 6 line wrasse. Recently, I returned a chromis because his friend died and I didn't want him anymore. Also I traded away my desjardinii tang because he got too big. And today, I returned my Majestic angel to the LFS because he has gotten fat on too many corals .

    Now, what to do?

I'd like some thoughts on my new stocking plan....

2 different tangs (convict, purple, chevron, 2 spot are on the list)
    3 lyretail anthias

These would go along with my 2 clowns and 6 line.

I am willing to return the tangs in the event they get too big (it sucks but I've done it before). Who knows, maybe I'll have a bigger tank before that happens ;). I am concerned about having 2 tangs in a 90. A purple and convict are my choices as I type this. Maybe I should limit myself to one tang?

Also, why am I reading that anthias require a 125? Seems a little excessive to me, but maybe a 90 is too small for them too?

Anyone have thoughts on my stocking plan? Is it too many fish? any tang/anthias experts weigh in on some of the specific concerns I have?

I would get 2 tangs, but that's just because I really like them. I have a yellow tang and vlamingii tang in my 100gal, but both are about 2" right now. They get along just fine, and have plenty of space. Of course i'm going to have to get a bigger tank (planning to get a huge tank in about year) or find a new home for the Vlamingii Tang after a while.

So, I would choose 2 different looking tangs. I would chose the purple tang or the chevron tang, and then convict or the 2 spot. That also gives you one expensive with one cheaper. I don't thing these fish would outgrow your tank. They are some smaller tangs, and I would get ride of other fish before these guys. Buy as small as possible.

I have never had any anthias or know anyone with any, but I believe it's recommended for 125 because they need a lot of space to swim, and plenty of rock to hide/ swim in. If you feel like your aquascape is good, and you really want them, then go for it. Personally I would not get these fish, or only get one.

Have you ever had a goby or a blenny? These fish have great and different personalities, and I think one would be a good addition. They also occupy a different space in the tank (on/in between rocks, and in the sand).

Well, thats my opinion! I hope it helps (sorry it's not expert though!).

    Good luck,

    Amanda

Those anthias will do fine in a 90. Get 3. They do better in odd number groups. Either 2 female and a male or 3 female. The dominate female in the group will turn male (yes, this is opposite of clowns).

    Tangs:

The purple is the meanest out of the ones listed. Chevron is the most expensive. Love the look of the 2 spot and Chevron. Both are gentle, but you never know. I know nothing about the convict.
