LOL yes I was going to say that I had made a few for people over the yrs I just use 1.in You then have a option to just wedge it under the rim of the sump or silicone it. I think I made and sent one to Scott a couple yrs. ago I use one now just like that for my emergency filler upper in case the solenoid or the 24 V transformer or that elect float messes up My water can't get much lower then a 1/2 inch of where it runs normally .

I thought so too but he assures me he's just confident. Although, he has been going through a lot more kibble lately.

I looked at you drawing and I'd rethink the way you have that I assume strapped to the tanks stand at the top with a couple of plastic pipe clamps Thats could a weak link is it where ever hit or bumped and rotated.. Not knocking your idea but unless you have a way that this thing can not rotate like putting a small self tapping set screw through the clamp into the pipe to prevent that from ever happening someone could ad will flood a floor. Like the guy who all hail as the stand pipe guru he did not have the total plan and has flooded a few floors 2 of my friends on another site yrs ago found that out.. there is was a simple fix but It was never posted or mentioned By the guy . But other then this it looks like one way to mount a float valve .

I should have mentioned that I always install my systems over a catch mat of pond membrane leading to a floor drain if they are to be hooked to city line water pressure. This isn't necessary if a 5 gallon make up water bucket is incorporated. Just make sure the sump will take the 5 gallons without overflow.
I see what you mean Tangster but I have about a dozen float holders installed in setups, the longest for 7 years now and never an issue with any of them. Bumping it hasn't caused problems since it can only swing a few inches before hitting a sump wall and trust me, they get bumped. In fact, allowing it to rotate on its axis point gives you room to move it when needed for other sump hardware such as skimmers.

    Mt ATO version

Here is my version of the ATO, thanks for the idea! I just picked up a clip on 1" 'T' fitting to 3/4" pvc that fit perfect on my inlet tubing from the overflow box. I just cut out the bell of the pvc for the float valve. The issue I see down the road would be salt creep, but as for now it's topping off right on the money. ;D
