Retrofit metal halide?

Hey guys over the weekend I scored a brand new 24" oddysea t5 metal Halide combo for my 20 gallon, the reason I bought it was (A) the box was unopened and (B) I thought I could retrofit some leds into it instead of using the metal halide. (C) it was $60! I know the halide will be way to bright for my tank and most likeley fry everything if its on. I also know they are extremely non-eco friendly. Is there a good way to fit leds in side? on a bulb I can use with less heat and light temp then a halide in the existing fixture? this is the fixture it self

The metal Halide is a 250w and is pretty much useless on my small tank so is there a way to make some sort of a fixture that sits inside of the light? there is 2 holes on the sides labelled "retro" for extra lighting and lots of room inside for lights whether it be strips or bulbs.

I hav never heard of anything that will retrofit into a MH socket, especially not a dbl ended socket.... but there are several retrofit T-5 bulbs available these days.
