I am looking for a return pump for my upcoming build. The tank is a 40 breeder with a 29 gallon sump. I want a good pump that doesn't run hot, as I am in Florida and want to avoid a chiller. At this point I am considering the Eheim Compact+ Pump 2000. Any suggestions of something better?

Are you looking for an external or submersible pump?

I'd be interested to know about a submersible pump recommendation for a 29 gallon sump for a 65 gallon tank :)

Not trying to steal the thread......

On my 40b I use a Sicce sincra 2.0,I think it's rated at 580gph.I use it for my return and to feed a pellet reactor.I have a ball valve in the line for each(two little fishies)and both are throttled back.My overflow is a Eshopps 300gph.I can't comment on the amount of heat it produces as I just don't know.It is pretty quiet though not silent as advertised.
