Every time I shut down my return pump then restart I get white fiber like hairs floating around, I'm wondering if this stuff is contributing to my cyano outbreaks. I really don't think a picture would help as they are very small, has anyone else ever had this problem?

    thanks k+

Look close, it's probably pod moltings. I've found they tend to settle in all sorts of places in the sump and once the pump comes back on, get stirred up shot up to the main display. Could just be other debris too, but mine seem to mostly be this.

I have the same stuff and do a shutdown on my pump on occasion to clear it out. It doesn't appear to harm anything.

    p.s. seen Werdna lately?

I get that stuff in my FOWL tank. Does it look like white spikey fragments? I always thought it was a type of bacteria or sponge that grows in the pipes. It doesn't seem to harm anything, but it's only in the fish tank lines.
