Return Pump

    I have a mag 9.5 and have put a ball valve on the outlet of the return pump. I put teflon tape on the fitting. It is in the sump and is going to be under water. Is the telfon tape going to do anything bad when the salt water. this is going to be a reef tank.

    I wouldnt use the tape if its underwater. Who cares if it leaks underwater?

    I agree it's not a big deal if you have a small leak, I don't think it will effect your pressure much. I also don't think you would have a problem with teflon tape, but I don't know for sure.

    It will affect pump pressure, not so much pump volume- teflon tape is fine to use in a SW tank.
