The one I have seems to be losing power. I'm gonna play with it when I move, but was thinking about replacing it while my tank is taken down for the move. Any suggestions for a quiet return pump for a 75g, max head height is around 55-56 inches. Thanks in advance.

Water Blaster HY-3000 or HY-5000, Eheim 1260 or 1262 or OceanRunner 3500 would be my choices. You might also take a look at some of the new DC powered pumps, the reviews so far have been very good from what I can tell.

    The Jabeo DC pumps.
Get bigger than you need now, they come sith their own controller to limit the flow, witout a valve.

Very low energy, very quiet, very low $$, etc.

I think the DC pumps are the future. I have the reef octopus dc5500 but understand some Cheaper versions of the same pump are around. Simply press a button to lower the flow and burns far less energy. It is the quietest pump I've seen. Also they ramp up slowly for less wear. It's weird when you turn it on because you can't tell if it came on for a few seconds.

FWIW, your existing pump may just need cleaned. I'd suggest checking that before tossing it.

Yup that's the first thing I'm going to do when I shut it down. Should I also clean out any crud sitting on the bottom of my sump while I'm at it?
