how is water draining to the fuge? the return is the easy part.. you can just have a small pump/powerhead pumping water from the fuge back up to the display. The problem is how is the water getting to the fuge in the first place in order to be returned....

Most people use pvc connected directly from the pump for the return back to the dt from the sump. You need to put a ball valve in to regulate the flow in the dt if you have to and a union would be advisable in case you need to make changes or disconnect the pipe. The union would be before the ball valve where you could cut the water off and diconnect it without a flood. Here's a pic of a return set-up with flexable hose and a scwd. The return section/pump is on the left of the tank. Sorry no pics of pvc return line,I'll try to find some good ones. These are off the web.

I just noticed your post said "return from fuge". You don't want to return from the fuge because sand and other what not will clog your pump up. You need a return section in your sump to send water back to the dt.

It has a return section...what I want to know is the line from the return pump just stuck in the top of tank or what....It is not coming from the fuge section but from the last chamber where the return pump sets....Mine has PVC going back to the DT but to just drop the PVC into the tank is not the way it should be...so when your line goes into the tank what is used to ditribute the water into the tank..if it is just a pipe thst goes over the edge and ends under the surface of the water it just makes a mess in th esubstrate...Understand?
