They got you preapproved for X amount loan. If they cant help, keep down payment in your pocket and bid them a good day. The BBB is nothing but a company rating system like feedback on ebay, except companies pay them like 150 or so a year. Oh yea you made the down payment in cash if they show up to repo it lol.

    good luck!
i worked at a dealership for 7 years and if you argue enough they will give you whatever you want just to shut you up and get you out of the store. number one rule, dont give up. dont ask them what they can do, tell them what they are going to do. most dealers will bend over backwards to take care of the ticked off customer just to save face.

Got a letter this afternoon from the dealership thanking me for purchasing the truck. I got the general managers name off the letter and decided to call him. He was nice, but said there was nothing I could do. I then brought up the down payment issue. He said that the payment should have been recieved at the time of sale. I told him that I had not given it to them yet and that no one has even called me asking me for it.

Long story short, they have offered to sell me a Dodge Dakota. I smaller and less expensive truck than the Ram.

I don't think it is right thing to do, but they can't seek the down payment legally. By them signing the paperwork and giving you the car they legally said they have received the payment.

Keep pushing then then push more. They will lose money to shut you up eventually. Sad that some dealerships still don't understand the value of a customer.

If you want, you can call me at work and go over the specific details they are offering you. I will help you make sure they don't take advantage of your situation. Of nothing else, I can load your lips on how to approach them.

Thanks Grim. I will be calling you shortly.

Like I said, they have offered me a Dodge Dakota. The salesman I have been dealing with just called me a few minutes ago to give me the specifics on the truck and it turns out that they want more money than I was going to pay for the ram. I would be paying $412 and change for the Ram and now they want over $430 for the Dakota! I understand that this was my fault, but does that really give you the right to screw a guy over?
