My reverse osmosis filter is having some trouble. I am not getting any water flow from it whatsoever.

I changed the small flavor filter, air tank, flow regulator on the waste line, all three initial stage filters, and the reverse osmosis element. Basically the only thing that I did not replace was a short, silver cylinder that has 4 tubes on it. I don't know what that is. I know that the water line to the filter is good, and I can even hear a trickle from the waste line, but I get no water to the taps.

Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem? What other information do you need? And what pressure should I keep the tank at? I've been playing around with various pressures, but nothing seems to work.

First check your tap water feed, probably a small self piercing saddle valve, this is a very common problem, the needle valve plugs up over time. Screw it in and out multiple times to execrcise it. If possible shut the water suply off, remove the valve and manually clean the smal hole out with a jewelers file or small screwdriver then reassemble everything.
I'll bet money this is your problem since you are not getting much waste either.

Next, take a look at this diagram and make sure all the lines are hooked up correctly, especially on the autoshutoff valve which you did not replace. It is easy to get lines swapped when replacing things.

Pay particular attention to the lines on the membrane housing itself, notice the yellow waste line is closer to the outside edge of the housing while the treated line with the check valve on it in this case is closer to the center.

Let us know if this helps.

If you can post the brand and model someone might be better able to help.

The feed is fine. All the lines seem to be correct (according to the diagram) as well.

Just to see what would happen, I emptied all the water from the three primary filters. When I turned the water back on, I could hear the canisters filling up. And like I said, I can hear water going down the drain. So there is water moving through some of the system - just not through the whole thing.

I'm really not sure what the make is. I'll have to try to find the papers that came with it. I don't see any name on the unit itself.

I'm still curious as to what is a good pressure to have the tank at.

If you are getting a normal or greater than normal waste flow then try reseating the RO membrane in the housing, thye insert further than you think. If its not seated all the way water bypasses it and goes to waste.
