I completely agree with your observations on the 6" depth with the 121. I had the same experience.

First thing in the AM yesterday I lowered my platform 1" to just over 7" and last night I could truly dial in my 121 for the 1st time. I am psyched. I lowered the gate to do so, not sure how far as it is out of view facing the back of the sump. I don't believe it is fully closed though.

I doubt my water is too clean. :) I backed the screw off to the midway point presently. Lowering the platform was key. Now I will make fine adjustments with the screw.

Nice foam with this skimmer. I think I am going to really like it. Thanks for your details. That was helpful.

So I got my mp121 running the other night. First impression is very good. If I didnt lower the water line a bit I would have had skimmate overflow. I have my water level just below the cup where it says to have it during initial set up. The videos are right in the sense that you can really adjust it with one hand. It started storing particles near the top of the cup within an hour of set up and I have a light bio load.

Second day had to do some tweaking to the water level due to the skimmer starting to break in.

My only problem with the whole thing is that I didnt get shipped my Ecobak bio pellets. I am going to call Jon tomorrow and see if hes going to send it to me. No problems with the skimmer so far. Cant wait till this thing breaks in fully.

Great thanks for the input! To tell you the truth I didn't get pellets either but I just assumed it was because I got the unit at such a great price.LOL
I am sure if you PM Jon he will take care of you. He is a super nice guy from what I can tell.;)

I got mine and played w/it before adding it to the system.

It pulled out nasty stuff right away.
Now that I have the overflow in and such and nearly all new water the skimmer went crazy. It bubbled over and really there wasn't much to pull out being nearly all new water. I think I finally have it set adequately now but have to nearly close the air valve and is it a gate for the ammount of water?...is this normal for a new skimmer and or nearly all new water....can you tell I've never had a decent skimmer before?...lol

You got me! Where do sign up for that price? I've got a 72 gl bow front and it's ready to rock with a Warner MF 121.

3 week update. Skimmer working well. Skimmate is drier. Cyano on sand is going away slowly. I thought the twist off cup was a bad idea but im beginning to think this is the best way to take the cup on and off. Eventually I would have had to replace the gasket on my old skimmer. Also this skimmer is very easy to clean since it can fully come apart.
