Hi i am going to start a 90 gallon FOWLER then upgrade to reef, with a refugium-sump. This is my design, well just the point of what i am going to do. In real life everything will be perfect and not squiggly LOL::) . The whole tank will be a DSB not just the sump. And can i add a nitrate reactor or is it just another nitrate factory. Thanks in advance!:)

It looks like the ones they sell...I, like the one..like mine...it has the fuge on the right...sump in the middle and return on the left...the fuge is fed by a line that comes off the return line on its way back to the tank...then controlled by a gate valve to regulate flow through the fuge..back into the sump and so on...but what you got going on has and will work just fine...just not my pick. : ) good luck....you will find that there are a couple different flavors out there. : )

+1 to sump/fuge on one side, skimmer on the other and return pump in the middle. That way, you can still keep everything running and isolate the fuge if you ever need to work on or lose the DSB.

Just need to tee into your overflow line and feed both halves separately.

These seem to be most the most popular set ups here.

Are you speaking of maybe a coil denitrator? or some media other than the biological stuff you'll be running in your fuge?

I also agree with return in the middle. Just make sure that you make the return section as large as you can because that is the section you will most notice evap. The more water there the better off you will be

I built a coil denitrator, It worked great...but I had 8 fish in a 55...now that my bio load is only 6 small fish in a 90, between my fuge, skimmer, and gac, I have no issues with nitrates...and I took the coil out last year...didn't miss it.
...but it don't hurt none...especially if your fighting nitrates, they do work.

Here is the fuge/sump/return design I discussed previous...just fyi :)
