I just picked up a tank from a LFS going out of business ,unfortunately all the big tanks were gone so I decided to go with a nano.
    the tank dimensions are 30"L x 12.25"w x 12.75" h. about 21 gallons.

not sure if I am going to do a sump/refuge with it yet.
I have a 305 fuval laying around I might use.
still have to build a stand for it.

any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

I have a 20 gal tall that I will incorporate into the DYI stand, I would like to drill the tank but have only seen 1" bulk heads and drill bit.

Hey RH how ya been? Haven't seen ya around much! I think with a 21(?) you would have the room to do a dt and then do a 20 dt sump/fuge. That would be cool. If you are going to build the stand you could incorporate it all together for show. know what I mean?

Doing good ,school has been keeping me pretty busy, in the last semester finally! yeah the tank I bought is a 20 gallon long don't know why I said 21 lol.
yeah I though about displaying the sump refuge as long as I can get the tank drilled.I don't want another HOB overflow like on my 55.

    Last semester! Congrats!!!

Can that tank be drilled? can you take it to a glass shop? they should be able to drill it whatever size hole you want. I'm pretty sure you can get 3/4 bulkheads.... I don't see why not 1/2" even. Have you searched for smaller than 1" ones yet?

not yet I tried bulk reef supply they only carry a 1" drill bit and up.
Not sure if it is tempered or not its a marineland aquarium and the only sticker is on the inside lip with the production date. I know I can't drill it if its tempered.

yeah and there's no way to tell without the manufacturers label is there, other than drilling. man that's a heck of a predicament! the LFS didn't know who made it or if it's tempered?

The LFS was like a local swap meet the have been out of business for a couple of weeks and this was there last sale. the people there really had know clue..lol, I had never gone there when they were open.
inside the tank it had a marineland warranty card but nothing about the aquarium itself.Just the basic card that comes with all there aquariums.
